Why the Coalition?

We break barriers through an array of activities:

Teach Leadership - Students who become BSC Representatives commit to assuming leadership responsibilities. They also plan and hold monthly General Meetings with discussions on important topics and relevant issues. Through these meetings, members learn to facilitate thoughtful conversations, listen to others' opinions, and cooperatively create strategic solutions.

Encourage Self-Empowerment - BSC leads activities with the primary goal for all BSC members to master their own self-empowerment. From main events to social gatherings, BSC seeks to help students develop confidence in their identity and voice. Students also learn from guest speakers who model what success looks like in adult life.

Build Soft Skills - BSC instills important qualities like time management, networking, teamwork, creative thinking and conflict resolution. Whether a Representative or General Member, every participant learns skills they carry throughout their time in BSC and onward.

Establish Connections - From independent institutions to public schools, BSC provides a way for students to create long-lasting, meaningful connections with those who share similar experiences.

Facilitate Outreach & Collaboration - BSC encourages students to take what they have learned from their time in the program and spread awareness in their respective school environment. Furthermore, BSC collaborates with students and school administrators to find solutions that promote affirming climates and advance the overall well-being of students.

In the power of togetherness, we uplift and inspire each other to bring our unique gifts and strengths to the world.
