Programs

Since the founding of the Black Student Coalition, the purpose of our programs has been to ensure that all members feel represented in spirit, purpose and community. We have aimed to renew and cultivate the categorical strengths that reside in all black students. As we grow and impassion our members to become excited, intellectual, and bold participants in the world, BSC maintains programs that encompass the support they will need now and forever more. 

Leadership Development

We prioritize the leadership development of talented black students. We believe that great leadership is not just an innate quality but can be developed and nurtured. Our program is designed to help you develop the skills and qualities you need to become an exceptional leader. However, what sets our program apart, is our commitment to helping you become a well-rounded leader—one who is not only skilled but also ethical and socially responsible. We believe that leadership is not just about achieving results but also about making a positive impact on the world.

Peer Engagement

Our Peer Engagement Program provides you with a supportive community that understands your experiences and empowers you to thrive as a black student. We believe that peer engagement is essential for building a sense of belonging and fostering a positive school culture. With our program, you'll build camaraderie and fellowship with likeminded student from other independent schools.  Also, you'll have access to workshops, events, and mentorship opportunities that will help you build your confidence, develop your leadership skills, and achieve your full potential.

Academic Enrichment

We understand that academic excellence is crucial to your success. We are here to provide you with the tools and resources you need to excel in your studies. We know that as a black student in a PWI, you may face unique challenges in your academic journey. Within our academic enrichment program, we are dedicated to helping you strengthen your academic expertise through programming that creates a homogenous environment with a village mindset. You'll have access to low-cost academic counseling, mentorship, and tutoring that will prepare you for college and beyond.

Coalition2College

Our Coalition2College Program is designed to support you in navigating the complex college process by giving you access to guidance and resources that help you navigate it with confidence. With our program, you will form long-lasting relationships with other college applicants in the BSC, as well as those admitted to the same colleges. You'll have access to college counseling, workshops and tours that will help you identify your strengths, explore your options—including the financial aspect—and create a plan for success. You'll join other BSC members in attending the nation's top colleges and universities and automatically become part of our BSC Alumni Group.
